The loveliest getaway with touches of home.

The Montana Cabin had everything we needed, including the sweetest atmosphere that put us at ease! My husband and I had a lovely time relaxing, hot-tubbing, and cooking at this really lovely spot. It's so secluded, but at the same time just a stone's throw from Nelsonville and really conveniently located between Hocking Hills and Athens!

Nice weekend getaway

We liked how secluded the cabin was at the end of a long drive way with woods surrounding it. We liked how cute and cozy it was. We also liked how close it is to everything we wanted to do.

Private and quiet getaway ¿

I hate to say it because I know the bookings will go up and will be hard to rent but…. This is one of the most private cabins I have stayed in at Hockinghills!!! A true gem! Being able to order and have wood bundles waiting is also a plus. If you are older and not in shape the stairs to the loft may not be your thing. Loved all the little memorabilia left by other travelers. ¿¿¿¿¿

The cabin was so very cozy and nice. It had everything we needed for our stay.

The winter months are the best time for a farmer and a pastor to relax and recharge. The quiet location along with the hot tub and wood burning stove were so wonderful on a cold winter evening.

Amazing cabin in the woods!

My wife, our Pug Gus & I stayed in the Montana Cabin, arrived on a Friday and checked out on a Tuesday morning. We were in the area to go kayaking, paddle boarding, exploring, hiking. Due to a rain-soaked weekend, we had to amend our outdoor plans, but having such a beautiful quiet off-the-beaten-path location made being stuck inside a-ok. I spent a lot of time on the awesome porch enjoying the sounds & smells of the woods. It was a very nice way to relax and get away for a bit. 10/10 recommend.

Father's Day Getaway

Sent my husband and his friend to this cabin to unwind and relax for the Father's Day weekend. They said it was nice being in the woods to chill and was close to things.

A peaceful and serene stay for everyone.

My daughter and I stayed for only 2 nights. And neither of us wanted to leave. The cabin has everything you would need and than some. Although its off the beaten path we found getting to all the trails and parks quick and enjoyed the scenic routes. We made dinner and breakfast at the cabin as we both just loved the setting. The creek trickling in back was an added bonus. My daughter enjoyed wandering the surrounding woods and searching for all the "hidden" treasure and notes inside the cabin.

Great Cabin

We absolutely loved staying at the Montana Cabin. It was perfect for 2 people (probably could fit 2 more people since there are 2 beds but would be for children). We enjoyed all the amenities the cabin had to offer and was very peaceful. We will stay back here again on our next weekend get away.

Montana Cabin

Loved this cabin and all its hidden treasures! The small ways to leave a symbol of ourselves within the cabin added to the relaxing experience. The only downfall was the septic smell in the firepit area that made sitting outside difficult at times.

We had a great stay at the Montana Cabin! It was very clean, nice furniture, decorated very nicely.Loved all the windows and old wooden floors! The hill was a little steep getting to the cabin, a 4 wheel drive would be a definite in the winter!! The woods all around was beautiful. I think the only complaint I would have, is the fire pit area needed cleaned up. The grass was over ankle high and was concerned about snakes & ticks. Beautiful little 1800 cabin! I would recommend this cabin to my fam

Great amenities hot tub, needs mattress replaced.

My fianc myself stayed at the Montana cabin loved our stay! The security system, hot tub, bathroom, TV WiFi were all very nice we felt at home. The only one recommendation I would truly have is the mattress is very old needs replaced as it was very uncomfortable not supporting for the back to sleep at night . Other than that we loved our stay will come back if the mattresses are replaced. Thank you for the nice cabin stay!

Montana Cabin was awesome!

I absolutely loved the cabin! Not only was the cabin rustic and located in the woods, it was modern with all the features like wifi, hot tub and heating. The warp around porch/deck was beautiful. The neighbors were really nice and it was located close to the hocking hills parks which were beautiful! Not to mention, I loved the family owned management!

Montana Cabin Was Great!

One of the best and most authentic cabins my wife and I have stayed in in the Hocking Hills Area. It's proximity to Nelsonville made getting the necessities easy, and the drive to the various Hocking Hills sites was easy. Montana is an actual log cabin with a wood burning stove (although modern amenities like heat and air are also available). It also has a laundry area (washer and dryer) which I have never seen in a rental cabin before - a nice-to-have on longer stays!

Great Weekend at the Montana

Had a great time staying at the Montana cabin. There's plenty to do and see in Hocking Hills. It stormed off and on during our stay but the wrap-around deck is fully covered by metal roofing. We simply stepped outside and watched the lightning in comfort.

Montana Cabin

My husband and I stayed at the Montana Cabin with our two dogs from July 3rd- July 10th, 2021. This was a much needed get away to unwind and the Montana Cabin was perfect for that!! This cabin is tucked back in the woods providing the peace and tranquility we were searching for. We sat each morning on the wrap around porch drinking coffee, reading, and listening to nature. The hot tub was nice after a day of exploring. It was in the 90's several days we were there but the air conditioning in the cabin made it comfortable to sleep at night. We even made a couple fires out back on the cooler nights. This was our third trip to the Hocking Hills area, but our first time staying in Nelsonville so it was fun to check out the local shops and restaurants downtown. We rented tubes from Adventure Pro and floated down the Hocking River for a few hours- would recommend! The best part of our trip was finding Lake Hope State Park for hiking with the dogs. Would recommend if you want to avoid the crowds of other trails in the area. We went there everyday, hiked for several hours we found trail maps at the campground since the nature center wasn't open, and never saw another person on the trail! The service we received was excellent as it was easy to check in/out and when we had an issue with the hot tub they sent someone out within 20 minutes. Definitely recommend staying at the Montana Cabin if you want to get away from it all! Thank you 1st Choice Lodging.

We have stayed at the Montana cabin for the 5th year in a row. It is a very cozy cabin, secluded but yet still close to the caves, and small towns. The owners are super nice and friendly and will do anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We will be back next fall !!

1st Choice Montana/Bobcat Cabins

Four stars with reservations...read till the end. We arrived to the Montana Cabin by 1st Choice Cabin Rentals. It is a quaint little cabin well off the road on a wooded hillside. Overall it was very much the kind of cabin we were looking for, however things went quickly downhill after our arrival. We were notified the hot tub was not working, these things happen. But also found that the cable and Internet had not yet been installed in the cabin though they had been advertised. We had a discussion with management and they made an offer to move us another cabin which we initially declined. The cabin was clean at first blush. It also had the most well stocked kitchen that we've seen in these kinds of rentals, we were very impressed. However, that evening mice entered the cabin, one of which was caught in a trap that had been put in the closet where the were entering. We understand and accept 'the policy' insects, spiders, etc are difficult to manage in any home in the country. We took the offer to move to the Bobcat due to their presence. We arrived at the Bobcat cabin the next morning, found it also very clean and well stocked, it also had completely functioning amenities and we happily stayed their for the rest of our trip. It is very large (for 2 people). But the presence of a king size bed made our stay much better. It does not have that log cabin feel, but we were glad to be away from the mice. The one down side is while the master bathroom has a soaker tub, the hot water heater is not large enough to fill it more than half way. A tankless water heater would fix that. There is however a hot tub outside so that's kind of moot, but i find it hard to believe 4 people could get enough hot water for showers. Also a grill brush would have been super helpful. Google Maps Users: Keep driving another 1/4 to 1/2 mile, GPS is wrong for Bobcat (04/2015). A functional and hygienic Montana cabin would have given this five stars and no complaints. But our review could have been much worse, management's handling of the matter overall and flexibility ensured we would recommend 1st Choice Cabins.
